Photography notes:

  • Visit during the golden hour for the best light and to capture the waterfall's shimmering effects.

Most visitors to Gastack Beck Waterfall arrive by car, making it accessible for photographers with camera equipment. The waterfall is situated within a scenic wooded valley, providing a tranquil setting for capturing stunning landscapes.

Parking:

  • The nearest parking option is located at the small lay-by on the B5282 road, approximately 1 mile from the waterfall. This lay-by can accommodate a few vehicles but may fill up quickly, especially during weekends. The walk from the lay-by to the waterfall takes around 20 minutes along a well-trodden path.

Access:

  • The path leading to Gastack Beck Waterfall is generally well-maintained but can be uneven and slightly muddy after rainfall, so sturdy footwear is recommended. There are no significant steps or stiles to navigate, making it relatively accessible for most visitors. However, some areas may be steep, so caution is advised.
  • The waterfall is located on Open Access land, allowing free access for walkers and photographers. However, please respect the natural environment and avoid trampling on delicate flora.
  • As photography is best during the golden hour, arriving early to secure a good position is advisable. Be mindful that the area can become busier on weekends and during the autumn foliage season.
  • Safety considerations include being cautious near the water's edge and aware of potential slippery rocks. There are no livestock concerns in the immediate area, but it’s always wise to be vigilant in rural settings.
