Parking:

  • The primary parking option is the National Trust car park located at Malham Tarn itself (near the postcode BD24 9PU). From the car park, it’s just a short walk of approximately 5–10 minutes to reach the tarn.
  • Alternatively, you can park at the Malham village car park (about 3 miles away), which requires a longer walk of approximately 1 hour along well-marked paths through scenic countryside.

Access:

  • The path from the National Trust car park to the tarn is well-maintained, generally level, and suitable for photographers with camera kits. The terrain can be uneven in spots, so sturdy footwear is recommended. There are no major steps or stiles, but be prepared for occasional muddy sections, particularly after rain.
